Official ISI web design home page (Digital Design Project 2011)

After presenting my web page to the class I found that something was missing and some stuff needed to be changed.
First, I took off the writing saying, We accept/ Nous acceptons. Since I show a Visa and MasterCard picture, right away one sees that he/she can pay with those 2 credit cards.
Second I took of on the bottom menu "contact us" because I already have the same on the top of the page so I added Site Map instead. I also included a copyright description on the bottom; simple page looks more professional with it.
Last, I added a box with Links of the company's suppliers for Control, automation and instrumentation products.

Web design on Photoshop

This is the first design i came up with. I used the same concept as the rough draft, but I chose a different way of designing it on photoshop because i did not like the menus as boxes. The menu consists of Our Company, Our partners, News, Careers, Contact us. Then i put a couple of pictures of jobs that ISI is currently working on. I added a small description promoting the company's professionalism and quality. Last I put a box on the bottom of the page indicating in which cities the company is located.

I made some changes to the design. I did not like the box on the bottom and took it off. I thought that we shouldn't indicate the city names because when clicking on Contact Us all three location would appear. Instead, I placed the city names under the logo. I added home contact us, and terms & conditions on the bottom. I also drew to parallel lines on both sides of the sheet to give it some more focus

First sketches and flowcharts for the web design

This first sketch is a brainstorming page looking at different web sites and then writing important words and explanations of what the company does.

Second sketch shows how I started thinking of the Home page design. Having the company's logo on the left and putting an English/French tab on the right with a search option. Also a menu was thought. You can also see a flowchart created to show the sub-menus and what they would show and explain.

Third sketch shows a progression of the previous 2.

Fourth sketch shows how the rough draft of my design would be. I chose a similar design to Schneider electrics concept. The menu is designed with boxes and when the mouse approaches a menu tab, the sub-menus appear in a bigger scale. Also I like the idea of having 1 or more pictures in the middle. Makes the site more interesting and people can get a better understanding of what application this company can provide.

Final sketch shows how eventually the sub-menus would look and what each one would consist of.

6 Inspiring Websites in the Automation Industry

The purpose of this project is to design a website using Photoshop/Illustrator. As a last project for the Digital design class, this final post will show what I have learned and accomplished this past semester.

This time I went with something new not using any of the previous projects.
I decided to re-design my company's website. I will make a template and then using this concept an entire website and can be designed in the future.
This is an Industrial Automation Integrator company that provides control systems integration and process instrumentation.

In order to have a better understanding of how I will design the web page, I chose 6 websites that are a part of the same domain as my company's.

1) My Automation Systems Integrator Company's website (ISI)
This is the actual website and it looks really old.

Schneider Electric
"http://www.schneider-electric.ca/"
This was the first website that inspired me to re-design my company's site. After a couple of tries I found that there was too much information on 1 page like Schneider's and I went with GE's example.

A-B (Allen-Bradley)

GE (General Electric)
I chose GE's website as the perfect example to design my template. Nice, simple, and professional.

Siemens
"http://www.siemens.com/answers/ca/en/"

Weidmuller
"http://www.weidmuller.com/"

Andrea's Constructivist poster

The purpose of this poster and the main idea is to show the Greek people of Greece and elsewhere how "Now it is Time" to get up!

Do not give up hope with all capitalist problems and governmental failures and misdirections of the country. The people have to get up now so that they do not lose most of the country's property to the IMF that has taken control of Greece's monetary problems.

After thousands and thousands of years of history, democracy, culture, religion, wars, battles for freedom under slavery and finally getting the country free at last almost 200 years ago, Greeks do not want to get enslaved again.
The politics reigning have been horrible and brought the country to bankruptcy.
Many people are running away from these problems and moving out of the country, losing many kids and the future Greek occupants.

The poster that I came up with shows at once the political problems that have been happening with the fire on the background and the kid running. But then I included the Acropolis, a monument very rich in history and worldwide know showing hope to the Greek people that after so many problems the country still exists.
I used the waving Greek flag blending in with the Acropolis as a sign of relief.
Finally, I put a soldier conveying his courage and expressing to all Greeks "How Now is Time" to get up and fight back for the Greece's independance once again.
I included a Greek saying that comes back alot of years and has a really important meaning.
"Eleutheria i Thanatos" = "Freedom or death".
This is the motto of Greece. It arose during the Greek War of Independence in the 1820s, where it was a war cry for the Greeks who rebelled against Ottoman rule. It was adopted after the Greek War of Independence. It is still in use today, and is a popular theory regarding the use of 9 stripes (for the nine syllables of the motto) in the Greek flag. The motto symbolized and still symbolizes the resolve of the people of Greece against tyranny and oppression.

All the images where gathered and worked on Photoshop.

Andreas

Images used for my Poster

The first image shows the destruction and protest that have been happening in Greece. This pictures also shows a kid running away from the fire and all problems.

Second picture is the Acropolis, a monument that has been through so many years and many wars and still hasn't crumbled.

Another example used was a man shouting to express his rights. Showing his shout going in 3 directions to make his point understood.

Then a flag of Greece was used on the final poster.

Final is a picture of a soldier getting up and showing an emotion of courage and pride in letting know his people not to give up and how they should get up and fight for their freedom.

Step 2 Examples of Constructivist posters

These are the 4 main Constructivist posters that inspired me to create my own ideology of a similar poster. Meaning war protesting and liberty.
